Is my donation tax-deductible?

What does tax-deductible mean?
A tax-deductible expense means that an individual or a business can subtract from adjusted gross income while completing a tax form. This reduces the reported income and the amount of income taxes owed.

Can I donate if I live outside the United States?
Yes, but we only accept donations in U.S. dollars. If you live outside the US, your donation will be charged in US dollars and you will receive a mailed acknowledgment from The Passport Portal. These contributions are tax-deductible in the US. However, if you live outside the US, you will need to consult with your tax advisor to determine if it is tax-deductible in your country. Your donation is still tax-deductible. If you wish your gift to be in honor of someone, please include this information in the memo line.
How do I cancel recurring donations as a donor?
After a recurring donation is made, an email is sent to donors to finalize setting up their Donor account. Donors can use this account to edit and/or cancel their recurring donations. To cancel your recurring donation as a donor, go to Donorbox.org and log in to your donor account by clicking the Donor Login link at the top of the page. If you didn't set up your account via the setup email, please use the Retrieve My Account link. This will allow you to establish a donor account.
How is my donation spent?
All of our expenses support our mission to help qualifying students obtain and afford a U.S. passport, so that they can benefit from the opportunities that traveling offers. A small percentage will go towards management and operational costs that will help TPP run smoothly. We will share our financial records in the future.

Scholarships
Is it free to apply?
Absolutely! There is no charge to apply or to access any of the information we provide.
Am I eligible?
→You must be 18 years or older and currently be enrolled in a community college, undergraduate, graduate, technical college, or vocational program.
→You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. (On a 4.0 scale)
Do I have to be a college student? What if I just graduated?
Yes, you must be 18 years or over and currently be enrolled in a community college, undergraduate, graduate, technical college, or vocational program.
Can graduate students apply?
Absolutely! We know graduate students can either take a term to study abroad during their graduate degree or they can complete the whole master's program overseas.
How will I know if I am the chosen candidate?
inners will be contacted and announced on January 21st. If you are chosen as a scholarship winner, TPP will contact you directly, usually via phone call or an email, so please be sure to give us an email address that you frequently check.
What does the scholarship application process look like?
TPP’s scholarship application process consists of personal questions and a few essay questions.
Can I submit more than one entry?
Each scholarship is limited to one entry per person. Multiple entries go against scholarship policies and may affect your consideration as a candidate.
How important is the essay?
Due to never meeting you, taking the time to write a thoughtful, cohesive essay can be a big boost to your scholarship chances. This is an opportunity to showcase your goals, vision, and the struggles that you have had to overcome.
How are the candidates chosen?
Candidates are reviewed by a board of college-educated travelers. These are people who were once in your shoes and know firsthand what it’s like to be a college student seeking travel. They review each application, choose the candidates who resonate with them, and vote on the final recipients.
If I am not chosen, can I apply again in the future?
Yes! Though each round of applications is limited to one entry, you may apply again for the following round. Please ensure that you are still eligible at the time of application.
